This is where you will see all of Gerrit's notes.
It seems as if all of the oil-eating bacteria articles lead back to one incident, the Alaskan EXXON VALDEZ oil spill in 1989. The scientist used the oil-eating bacteria to clean up the spill at a fraction of the cost of a regular oil spill clean up. These oil-eating bacteria converted the oil into alcohol (hydroxylase), water, and carbon dioxide. Also, from http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/1992/bacteria-0401.html, it seems as if the oil eating bacteria disberses many proteins (or enzymes) that break down oil. What i also know is that scientists are working on a way to alter the oil-eating bacteria to consume other toxic substances. Also, world scientists do not know much about the class of oil-eating bacteria.
Andrew and i have found plenty of websites pertaining to our bacteria and how it helps, but we still haven't found the scientific information about oil-eating bacteria.
